Shape the Future of FinOps Standards
IFO4 standards are developed through an open, consensus-based process. Every organization and individual can contribute. Here are five ways to get involved.
Join a Committee
Technical committees are the heart of IFO4 standards development. Each committee focuses on a specific domain and meets monthly to draft, review, and refine standards. Committee members contribute their real-world expertise to create practical, implementable standards.

Public Review
Every draft standard undergoes a public review period where any individual or organization can submit technical comments. All comments receive a formal written response from the responsible committee. Your feedback directly influences the final standard.
Vote in Ballots
P-Members cast binding votes at three critical stages: Committee Draft (CD), Draft International Standard (DIS), and Final Draft International Standard (FDIS). Each ballot requires a two-thirds supermajority with responses from at least half of P-Members. Negative votes must include technical justification.
Propose a Standard
Any member organization or technical expert can submit a New Work Item Proposal (NWIP). The relevant committee evaluates the proposal based on scope, market need, feasibility, and alignment with IFO4's strategic plan. Approved proposals enter the standards development pipeline.
Become a Reviewer
Expert reviewers provide detailed technical evaluation of draft standards. Unlike public review, expert reviewers are formally appointed and receive drafts at all stages. They provide structured feedback using standardized review templates and attend resolution meetings.
